This is a little decorating secret I have, which I just love - framed scarves. I have them all over the house and only wish I had more. Frankly, I prefer them over other pictures. There are so many scarves out there that you can always find one that suits your taste or decorating needs. Because of their size they look amazing over a bed or over the couch.
I have been framing scarves for many, many years. There used to be a really beautiful department store here in San Francisco called I.Magnin. As you would walk into the store one of the first things you saw was their scarf department. They always had a few scarves in these amazing frames that were spectacular. My partner in crime (my mom) and I inquired about where we could get a scarf framed. They informed us about a lovely frame shop also in San Francisco. We visited the frame store only to leave very, very disappointed as the cost of framing the scarf was many times over the price of the scarf. Yikes! So my mom and I decided to do it ourselves. We have never regretted it. Here is one of my favorites. It hangs over a bed and it is the focal point of the room. I just love it. He
Update: I entered this scarf frame in Cindy's Show and Tell Friday. Cindy's amazing blog is at My Romantic Home click here for link.

And I thought a scarf is just a scarf. I never could have imagined how lovely it looks on a frame until I came to look at your models. Very beautiful.
What a great idea. :) Way back 25 years ago, my hubby and I found this beach towel that we loved. It was a beautiful blue with big colorful hot air ballons on it. So, we took it to a do it yourself framing place and stretched it over a frame. That towel hung in our kids' nurseries for years!! It always made me smile. Sometimes it's a good thing to think out of the box! :)
Thanks for stopping by my blog and saying "hi"!

Hi Lia and it's so nice to meet you! Oh, I love to come to San Francisco and not nearly as much as I would like to!

I'm so glad you popped in to see me and I do hope you'll come back sometimes.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
What a great idea...that scarf is gorgeous...and it even has thistles! Do you use something special to mount the scarf to before framing it, so that it doesn't sag from hanging?
Thanks for stopping by.
I often pick up little scraps of textile as souvenirs when traveling. They are easy to transport and I frame them when I get home. I've done pillow cases but I hadn't thought of scarves. Thanks!
That's a great idea and truly beautiful!!

I love your framed scarf. I like to decorate with scarves because they are so versatile. I have a silk scarf I am currently using as a runner on my dining room table.

Lia, this is a fabulous scarf. I don't have any framed, but agree with you that this is a delightful way to spotlight these little treasures of art. I wish I had more wall space!
